New Trend. Rent a Photo Booth for your wedding or special occassion.
With Spring right around the corner, one thing is sure to follow: Weddings -- a lot of weddings. In Greenwich, much like the rest of the country, wedding season begins in the early Spring as many couples race to tie the knot before summer temperatures heat up and the vacation season gets into full swing.

A “new” trend that wedding-goers will see in 2010 will actually be a blast from the past -- photo booths. But unlike the photo booths that some remember seeing at places such as arcades and carnivals, today’s photo booths use the latest technology to make wedding more fun, unique and memorable.

According to The Knot, a nationally recognized publication for wedding information, adding a photo booth to a wedding reception is one of 10 ways to add a “wow factor” to the event.

A new company quickly growing in lower Fairfiend County is Greenwich-based PhotoBooth Lounge.  The reaction from brides-to-be was even better than expected, according to Tim Gemelli, who started The PhotoBooth Lounge business, with his wife Katy.

“The response has been even better that we had hoped,” Gemelli said. “We knew that brides would love the idea but had no idea just how much. The thing about the booth is that once you actually get your photos taken in the booth, you become a believer of just how much fun it is.”

At weddings, The PhotoBooth Lounge is meant to complement, not replace, the photographer or videographer. The booths take four photos per session and makes prints within 20 seconds. As many as 15 plus people can squeeze into the booth at once.

“And as soon as the curtain closes, something special happens,” Gemelli said. “It brings out the true personalities of those inside.”

Gemelli heard about The PhotoBooth Lounge through a college friend and thought what a great idea and decide that Fairfield County brides would be hungry for such a product for weddings, parties and other events.

According to Gemelli, brides-to-be liked the fact that the photo strips could be used as a unique wedding favor, eliminating the need for disposable cameras and other favors which have questionable value or don’t provide lasting memories.

“Another value of The PhotoBooth Lounge is that it keeps guests entertained and engaged in the wedding,” Gemelli said. “The PhotoBooth Lounge offers guests another option to remain active in the reception and ultimately makes the reception more memorable for everyone there.”
“People today are used to two things -- instant gratification and interactivity,” he continued. “Photo booths allow that by providing the photos quickly and allowing the guests to act spontaneously.”

While technology has changed in photo booths, so too has the appearance of the booths. The PhotoBooth Lounge is a slick, elegant booth draped in black or white (depending on preferences) that fits the décor of any reception hall.

A bride and groom can also arrange to have an extra copy of each photo strip put into a scrapbook that is ready by the end of the event. Each guest can write a personal greeting or note to the couple next to their photo. According to Gemelli, photo booth scrap booking has emerged as the most popular option for couples wishing to take a keepsake of the special day home with them.

Prices vary, but a four-hour rental with a host starts at about $1,200. The PhotoBooth Lounge is not only perfect for weddings but also is ideal for corporate events, high school proms and reunions, Sweet 16 parties, graduation parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and other special events.
